Maintaining and promoting our health is an integral part of our whole thought process about our health. Many studies have shown it beyond doubt that positive thoughts and positive thought processes have a potentially significant effect on our effort to maintain and promote health. Since positive spiritual health helps in creating positive thoughts, it helps in improving our health. Spiritual thought processes have potentially controlled and correcting nature on all kind of negative thoughts, a positive spiritual health makes our spiritual thought process to sufficiently effective in controlling negative thoughts at the level of their thought processes, and finally turn them into a series of positive thoughts.
In the process of feeling positive thoughts our body release many useful biochemicals, which have positive effects on our physiology, it helps in releasing good neurotransmitters in our brain; it created a vicious cycle of producing more positive thoughts. Positive thoughts help at two levels in promotion and maintenance of our health. First, it helps in most beneficial effects of our efforts of maintaining and promoting our health, and second, it helps in creating positive change in our thoughts which makes us happy, so it keeps us motivated for positive health gains.
We always have a thought process regarding our physical body in our mind. Promotion and maintenance of our health is the significant part of that thought process. We have different views at different stages of life and at the various times during a day regarding our physical body including spiritual thoughts. Spiritually we can perceive our body entirely differently, which creates a different approach for our brain to follow regarding our concept of health. Our cultural, religious and social thought processes play an essential role in shaping our understanding and thinking at the level of our thought processes to develop our overall perception about our health, at the individual level, and community level. People with two different sets of cultural and religious beliefs react differently and get motivated differently on their health issues.
It happens because of many information stored in our subconscious brain during our upbringing and development. So, even with an entirely scientific approach, our subconscious mind created specific thought processes which can affect our conscious mind, this happens because our cultural and traditional history has different meanings of the concept regarding health. Our beliefs also have different perceptions of beauty, looks and personality.
All above factors make our concept of health, its promotion, and its maintenance an intricate part of our overall thought process about our health. Though it appeared as if it is a very straightforward issue, but it involves our individual, social and cultural perception of looks, beauty, fashion and personality which creates our idea of maintenance of health. It also provides a positive thought process about our looks and personality, sometimes it may create a negative thought about our looks, and it may generate a personality problem or emotional problems in certain circumstances. Here it is essential to understand the concept of wellbeing, which is mentioned in the WHO definition of health. Wellbeing is the prime aim of any regime for maintenance and promotion of health.
