Spirituality Defined Through the Prism of Religions is Misleading.

We have the fantastic world of our thoughts, which are the products of the biochemical reactions and movement of ions in and out of the neuron cells of our brain, we call them as 'Thought Processes.' We have evolved and developed them in a natural evolutionary process of millions of years. These are behind the creation of success story of the species Homo sapiens, which put them at the apex of the animal kingdom with its immense powers (both negative and positive). So, we have a factory of different thought processes in our brain which are churning out various thoughts continuously. We have roots of all our thoughts in our evolutionary history, and it's biology.

During the journey of the evolution of thoughts in Homo sapiens from the basic animal thoughts to the modern human views of culture, science, and philosophy, Human ideas evolved with all their negativities as well. The capacities of the human brain are due to its effective thought processes. As the Homo sapiens evolved from the animals, it's thought processes also evolved from animal thought processes. So, it is natural to have the reflection of the animal thoughts in human thoughts.
It was about 2.5 million years back when Homo sapiens emerged on the landscape of biology on this planet. Though it was just like an event of the natural evolution, it was going to change the whole arena of future of life on earth in coming years. With the growth of the amazing capacities of the human brain in the form of its Cognitive Thinking, which made the basis of different thought processes, it puts human beings at the apex of the animal kingdom. This process was very fast in the timeline of the whole natural evolutionary process.

Development of cultures and religions were the natural outcome of the 'Agricultural Revolution' around 30,000 years ago. The history took a rapid turn from here onward. Agriculture changed the needs of human beings. It required people to work together, improve their necessary tools, protect crops, etc. Domestication of animals and selecting useful plants was going to change flora and fauna of the earth shortly.

At the level of evolution of thoughts, human beings started exploring nature more curiously, since it was their need in their agriculture work. To find the answers and to know the process behind the natural events, they created the different hypothesis. The concept of God can be considered as one of the early hypothetical thinking of Homo sapiens. Groups at different places started worshiping particular sets of Gods with specific patterns of beliefs, which further transformed into various belief systems and early religions. Later on, religions play an active role in shaping cultures, philosophies, art and science. We can see it by historical data that ancient scientists, physicians, and philosophers were saints or wise men from various religious beliefs.

Every religion was created with a common goal, and that was to help the people who are following it. Human development in all areas of social and cultural thoughts including the health and wellness of their followers. This thought process which was initially local and they took the other believers or worshipers of other gods as alien. We can see the reflections of this thought in our ancient texts available to us.

Gradually with further development of human thought processes interaction between people living in different parts of the world kept on increasing. This was primarily due to growing demand for productive land, so it forced them to cross the geography. It leads to bloody conflicts and killings as well. At the same time, it provided an opportunity to develop new world orders. Creation of empires, religions, cultures, and countries were few critical outcomes.

With all this violent and conflicting crusade of humankind, that part of thinking betterment of own group or follower of a belief became a thread for connecting and communicating. This thought process further evolved into the concept of humanity and human values. Which we can call as 'Humanism.' It also grew in different forms. Throughout the evolution of our biology started taking the thoughts of humanity and human values as positive thoughts. Our biology trained itself to express positivity in the form of releasing hormones and neurotransmitters those have sound effects on the human body by elevating mood and providing the sense of happiness. Since people feel good with thinking and acting on humanity and human values, so people in general attracted to human values. It was necessary for creating the world we have today.

This evolved thought process of humanity and human values created controlling and correcting mechanisms in the ecosystem of all other human thought processes of religions, cultures, philosophy, and science. All these thought processes except humanity, all have their roots in the various animal thoughts. Like, religious thought processes which created religion are the humanized thought of herd formation among mammals. Here one herd take another herd as a potential threat. A flock of monkeys will not tolerate a monkey from another group, they will become violent. Supremacy of herd in the natural habitat generally caused violent conflicts among groups of same species. This animal behavior reflected in human behavior as well, where we see other religion or religious belief as a potential threat. Jingoism, extremism, intolerance are some negative ideas among religious beliefs, which are humanized thoughts of those animal thoughts which we are carrying forward with us from our ancestors in the animal kingdom.

The thought of humanity and human values is not presenting anywhere else in the animal kingdom except human beings. So, it is a highly evolved thought process. It is grown to control the negativities in all thoughts in the ecosystem of human thought processes. It created communication channels among different religions. It makes them tolerant of each other. It created humanism, which makes human values supreme.

This thought of humanity and human values is spiritual thought process and spirituality since it connects human to human irrespective of their beliefs, nationality,, and cast. It created the thoughts of equality. This thought connected human beings to its environment, nature and forced them to think about their fellow human beings. This spiritual thought and spirituality created God, to make a control mechanism for negative ideas. It created philosophies and science, to explore and establish the existence of human 'Self' and it's journey in the universe.

Therefore, when we see the Spirituality with the prism of our belief system or our religion obviously, we try to define it with our religiosity. Knowingly or unknowingly we consider our religiosity as our spirituality. In fact, all the religions have a spiritual base, but more substantial part of them is composed by its rituals, beliefs and worship methods. Though spirituality is necessary for a religion to survive and thrive, it is obstructed and hampered, many times intentionally, in the perimeter of the faiths.

Every human being wants to realize it's spirituality. Spirituality is a superior thought than the religiosity thought on the timeline of evolution. Therefore, if we see Spirituality through the prism of religions, we will be looking it with religiosity which hampers intentionally or unintentionally the real picture of Spirituality. In this process, we think our religiosity as our spirituality, which is not good for society, religions, cultures, countries, and people. This increases the conflicts. While the real meaning of Spirituality will help in decreasing disputes, creating a good understanding of the religions and tolerance among religions. It will finally assist in improvement in the social health of individuals.

The positive biological effects of real spiritual thinking will enhance the physical and mental health of people, which is Spiritual Health. The understanding of Spirituality, Religiosity, and their ambiguities will help in decreasing extremism, violence on the name of religious beliefs, intolerance, and hatred. Spiritual Health can play a significant role in creating world peace, global happiness, and good health.

Spiritual Thought Process

Our brain is the amazing organ in our body, this about three pounds has the amazing capacity to learn, to store and to create different kinds of thought processes, made up of trillions of neurons and their synapses (connections between different neurons). Our brain and it's all thought processes are the results of millions of years natural evolutionary developmental process, which put the human beings on the top of the animal kingdom. All of our thought processes are the result of complex biochemical reactions in our brain, all of them are controlled by our DNA. This miracle molecule is a double helix structure and makes our genes. Our DNA also passed through the same natural evolutionary developmental process of millions of years to what we have today in our genes. All of our thought processes are controlled by our highly developed coding of human DNA. The spiritual thought process is the highly developed thought process of our brain. It has to control and regulating chara

Concepts Of Positive Energy In Our Thought Processes

#SpiritualHealth Energy is the universe and universe is energy. We can understand it with this simple scientific logic that each and every object living or non-living is made of atoms, and atoms are made up of many subatomic particles, if we peek inside those atoms we will find different strata of energy spinning around a nucleus, we call it atomic energy. It is not possible for the universe to exist without energy. Similarly, life is energy. Plants store energy from the sun and pass it to food chain which runs the life in the animal kingdom. From the strict laws of physics, energy cannot be divided into the categories of positive energy and negative energy, but we have positive and negative impact of energy on our health, social and cultural life. So, that energy which have good results for our health and life, we call it positive energy and if it is adverse then we call it as negative energy. We can understand it with a simple example, suppose somebody run for a distance to d

From The Upcoming Book "Spiritual Health" (Coming Very Soon)

Our brain is a fantastic organ in our body.   Through the process of development, it has developed in the present form. It took millions and millions of years in this process of evolution and development to make us human beings where it put us apart from other animals, and make us unique in the whole animal kingdom, where we have acquired the enormous power to influence and alter the nature. In this process, the unique thought process of our brain is the driving force behind our actions and behavior at the individual level, at the community level, at our country level, at the global level and finally at the universal level. Our thought processes make the basic building blocks of our comprehensive thought process which we call humanity and human values. At some point in time, we start asking a question to ourselves about our existence, about our ‘ self,' about the purpose of our life, about our universe and its beginning and end, about death, what happens after

Diwali In Our Spiritual Thought Process

Today is 'diwali'. Diwali is for the word 'Deepawali' meaning line of lamps 'दीप '. We have many mythological stories behind the reasons to celebrate it, we all know them, one very interesting one is that it was celebrated by the people in ancient Ayodhya, the capital of Lord Rama, when he returned back after exile of fourteen years, after defeating Ravana, the demon king. Apart from this there are some other stories as well, but the above mentioned story is the most famous among the people. Here we are going to discuss regarding the human thought process behind the festivities and festivals. The most interesting and amazing organ in our body is our brain and its thought processes make it very interesting and versatile, since it is our different thought processes which control our conscious mind and intelligence. All our thought processes are the result of very complex reactions of biochemicals and neurotransmitters in our brain. Human brain and human thou

Merry Christmas And Happy New Year From Spiritual Health

Our religious occasions like Deepawali, Ied, Christmas, Guru Parva and all such events in all religions are the reflection of the underlying spiritual thought process in our religious thought processes. These festive occasions are based on the fundamental teachings of humanity and human values in the base of our religion and belief system. Festivals (both religious and cultural) create a lot of positive thinking and positive energy among a large population. Every religion or belief will have some spiritual component. When this spiritual element is amalgamated with specific rituals, ideas, and practices, it becomes a religion. Religion is the byproduct of the social, psychological and cultural developmental process of human beings. Throughout the history of human development, we created some ways to live and make our life happy by recognizing our spiritual needs; we call them religion.  Every religion has a spiritual base; it is not possible to conceptualize a religion without spiri

Evolutionary Journey of Spiritual Thought Process and Spirituality

Development of human brain started with the appearance of the neural plate (a group of cells) at around 7nth week of embryonic life. We can call it as our primitive brain, then it forms a neural tube and finally into our brain, brainstem and spinal cord in the third trimester of our embryonic life we have a well-formed brain and spinal cord. Studies have shown that our human learning process started in the womb of mother before birth. Interestingly our brain follows the same evolutionary mechanism from the primitive brain to the most complex human brain, as we have in our evolutionary history. The only difference is that it took only nine months in the womb to complete a process which took millions and millions of years on the natural evolutionary timeline. It happens because of the codings in our DNA in our genes, again which took millions of years to develop into human DNA. Every thought process in our brain is because of complex biochemical reactions and movement of ions in ce

Spiritual Journey Of A Doctor, A Thought On The Occasion Of This Doctors Day.

Being a surgeon and practicing surgery for more than two decades, most of my working hours were full of emotions filled with smiles, sufferings, hope, helplessness, happiness, and tears. We doctors see happiness and smiles with a lot of hope with the birth of a child at one moment and rushing a newborn to a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) next moment. We faced almost all kind of different difficult challenges of life and death entwined with many social, economic and political problems. Most of the time we consider it as a part of our daily professional life, but many times it shakes our scientific, religious and cultural knowledge and beliefs. This unique nature of our work with its urgency and emergency to save the precious human life create a complexness in our natural human thought processes. Health in itself is a complicated issue. In this broader context of health, doctors are supposed to treat the patients and provide advice for prevention, promotion, and maintenance of

Happiness, Bliss and Spiritual Health (Chapter 24, #SpiritualHealth)

Happiness and bliss is an emotion related to our wellbeing. It can range from a sense of contentment to real joy. Happiness is considered the most mental perception of our wellbeing . So, we can say that happiness is a happy mental state. United Nations declared the 20 th March as the ‘International Day of Happiness,' to recognize the social importance of the joy in every sphere of life. Bliss is defined as a state of magnified happiness. It occurs with some personal achievements, contentment, and fulfillment. Bliss is described differently in different faiths and religions as happiness. Biologically bliss and happiness are the products of the same thought processes in our brain. Religious concepts define pleasure according to their fundamental beliefs and objectives. The idea of eternal bliss in religions is purely a religious thought process. Eternal bliss is considered the supreme level of happiness, where we can have joy without boundaries. Different reli

Spirituality, Religions, ans Science in Context of Human Health - Spiritual Health

WHO defined health as “A state of Complete physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being and not merely an absence of disease or infirmity.” t his reflects a positive thought about our health. Though this idea is not new, in Ayurveda, our ancient knowledge of human health the ‘balance’ between various physical, mental and social functioning of the human body is considered as a core value of health and wellness. Modern medicine is criticized for its mechanistic approach towards human health and wellness. Even the definition as mentioned above is considered incomplete and misinforming about human health by many people. Addition of the fourth dimension, the spiritual dimension gives it completeness in some respects. With all these criticisms the WHO definition is widely accepted and applied definition of human health across the globe by healthcare professionals and researchers. The fourth dimension, the Spiritual Dimension is widely discussed among people, physicians, c
